My problem lies with those who insist they know the mind of god and are determined to make me live in their 12th century view of the world. No one is better at this self righteous nonsense than James Dobson and his crazy cult of loony-toon christian fundamentalists in Focus on the Family. (Incidentally, I have to get one of those bumper stickers that reads "Focus on your own damn family!") And, I suppose, a car on which to put said sticker.

Just posted on http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/08/13/dobsons-focus-on-the-family-humiliated-by-pray-for-rain-video/ is the latest in Dobson sponsored hatefulness.
For a really good read on these Dominionist christians, check out Chris Hedges's book, American Facists.

I "love" how these organizations all seem to have feel good titles like "focus on family" but when you focus on what they are really trying to do it is enough to make any non-Christian (and probably some Christians, too) sick. I love the bumper sticker. Says it perfectly.
lol I had to edit my fist comment- still figuring out Blogger.
Thanks for commenting James, I appreciate it! People like those involved with Focus on the Family are truly repellent. These sick people were actually praying for disaster at the DNC. That speaks volumes about the kind of people in this organization. Its a damn good thing prayer is useless.
Prayer: Doing nothing and thinking you are helping. Or for Dobson et al, Doing nothing and thinking that you are hurting.
I read Hedges' Fascists book a few months ago. Terrific read all around. He gives an detailed look on the whole neo-conservatist/dominionist movement.
